For three reasons. One: If you give up now, it won’t be a next time. Two: you can’t win if you don’t believe you can win. And three: just because is tough now it doesn’t mean it will always be.
Three, that’s all you need, just three simple reasons can get you through anything
I have to say I hate Ryoken’s dub voice but this part of the scrib is okey for me
So I sort of understand why they’ve done what they’ve done here…
“Three things to live” implies death otherwise -> “if you give up now there won’t be a next time” implies less serious consequences for failure
“Three things to defeat the enemy” implies conflict / “bad” people / focuses on the negative for the opponent -> “you can’t win if you don’t believe you can win” focuses on the positive for the protagonist
“Three things to go home” focuses on the situation the protagonist is in now i.e. being held captive -> “just because it’s tough now doesn’t mean it always will be” focuses on future and possibility of things being better
However what this does in effect is to change dialogue that is very specific to how this character is feeling and thinking in the situation that they are in, to something with a more general message that could be applied if the protag was (please excuse the facetiousness) trying to overtake on the motorway. This dialogue could be applied in any episode and fit no less well. It… just… ignores the story, I feel.
